DIY Wine Cork Sculpture

2014-02-28

Long craft for winter weekends.

You can breathe a sigh of relief now….my tutorial on how to make a huge wine cork sculpture using just newspaper and wire hangers is finally here. I had to take it easy this weekend so Boo and I set up camp in front of the TV with the coffee table covered in corks and supplies. I let Boo pick the project and of course she chose the TALLEST of all land animals: a giraffe.  A snail or bird would have been much easier to tackle!

Cork crafts for kids

2014-02-25

Special crafts ideas for kids!

Natural cork is a natural and sustainable superhero. I've written all about why you should always pick natural cork stoppered wine over screwtopped bottles, so what if you've made the switch to cork stoppered wine and are wondering what to do with the corks?
If you've got kids in your life then here is a round-up of some great cork based crafts for kids to reuse your cork. Of course, we don't suggest you start drinking litres and litres of wine to gather your cork - you can always ask friends, family and at local restaurants and bars to save any cork for you.

Upcycle: Wine Cork Rubber Stamps

2014-02-21

Quick craft form the weekend!

When I make smaller stamps, I like to use wine or champagne corks for the handles. After I carve out the stamp, I just glue it to the wine cork with a little E6000 glue. The wine and champagne corks add a little extra charm to the rubber stamps.
If you've never made a rubber stamp before, Geninne's Art Blog has a well detailed tutorial.

DIY PROJECT: ERIK’S RECYCLED WINE BOTTLE TORCH

2014-02-18

This DIY project is for the spring afternoons, is just lovely!

this clever outdoor diy idea comes from erik anderson of gerardot & co.- a creative branding and design agency in indianapolis. erik was kind enough to share a fantastic project that turns an everyday bottle into a modern backyard tiki torch. i love the way these torches look and am dying to find a backyard to use these in- too bad the closest thing we have is a 2×2 foot fire escape. but for those of you with yards, i hope you’ll enjoy this project from erik.

DIY: OMBRE CORK HEART for Valentine's day

2014-02-14

This is not a last minute Valentine´s day craft...

"When I first met Chriselle (from our fun Down the Aisle with Chriselle series!) she shared that her fiancé and she both love wine. Since I love seeing a couple’s interests being incorporated into design elements, I began brainstorming fun ideas that would incorporate their love of wine into their wedding day and came up with this cute idea. Perfect to place on your guest table, drink table or dessert table. And one of the raddest things about this DIY is you can keep it after the wedding and hang in your home – a fun reminder from your wedding and all the glasses (or bottles :) of wine you two enjoyed together!"
