DIY: Decorative Cork Balls

2013-10-25

Lovely cork ball for home decoration

Essential Project Supplies:

  • 240 Wine corks
  • 6 inch Styrofoam ball
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Glue gun and sticks

Step One:

Start by painting the Styrofoam cork with the brown paint. The coverage should just be enough to ensure no white shows through once the corks are applied. Let the paint dry.

Step Two:

Sort the corks. I chose to do an all white wine cork ball and an all red wine cork ball. If you do a mix, make sure you have enough of each color to cover the ball evenly between the two colors.

Step Three:

Apply glue to one side of the cork and place it on the cork ball, pressing firmly and holding for a few seconds. Continue to add corks to the ball, making sure that the corks touch one another. If you are alternating between red and white wine corks, check the pattern as you glue.

Step 4:

Let the cork ball dry and clear away any glue strands and clumps. Place the cork ball in its new home!
