Lovely platers!

Lovely platers!

Micro planters are really popular right now, and for good reason.  First and foremost, they’re adorable!  They’re also quick and easy to make, take up little space, and add a nice touch of green at a time of the year when many of us are already thinking spring. Taking care of your planters is easy if you pick the right plants, too. I like smaller succulents, and those that are easy to propagate by breaking off leaves. They don’t require much soil or water, and they come in cool shapes and textures that keep your planters interesting!

An illustrated guide to the cork production process

It all starts in the forest. Cork oaks are harvested every nine years, once they reach maturity. It doesn't harm the tree, and the cork bark regrows. Most cork forests are in Portugal and Spain.

Decorative typography with wine cork

Don’t be shy about the size of the letter, go big! Smaller letters end up being overwhelmed by the corks, plus bigger letters leave more room to fit the corks naturally. And please, whatever you do, don’t cut the corks to make them fit. It just looks tacky. Either leave some of the wood exposed or go over the edge a little. I experienced both of those scenarios in this project and still love the end results.

The spring is coming, so the colourfull flowers and trees, get inspired by this craft.

After searching the Internet for the most incredible items you can buy to color block everything from your wardrobe to your decor, we thought we’d turn our attention to showing you how to add a pop of color to your everyday items with some awesome projects that you can DIY. We couldn’t resist starting with deliciousdip-dyed sweets and an insanely cool wine rack made from coffee cans. Now we’re tackling time with these geometric color block clocks.

The coolest thing about these color block clocks is the color combos. We chose two paint colors for each clock that when mixed together make a totally new and beautiful color! It’s a basic painting concept that not only allows for a totally customizable palate, but also makes the most of your materials. We decided to try out three combinations to see what striking hues we could create.

Very handy mat, Cork can do a lot more than just keep wine safely in its bottle!

Very handy mat, Cork can do a lot more than just keep wine safely in its bottle!

In fact, there is an unbelievable number of creative and practical uses for this great, eco-friendly material. This is one of our favorite: a mud room mat. Be- sides being a rapidly renewable resource, cork is super durable and water resis- tant, so a cork mat is the perfect place to dump wet and muddy boots whenever you come in from the rain.

If you already have a wine cork collection in the works, then you’re one step ahead. If not, then this is a good excuse to start one – and also to pick up an extra bottle of wine tonight. In addition to anywhere from 200 to 400 corks (de- pending on what size mat you want) you’re going to need some sort of durable but floor-friendly material on which to mount them. An old yoga mat is perfect since it’s also designed to stay in place.
