DIY Cork Board for kids
2014-01-21

Keeping kids organized throughout the school year can be a tough task
There are always homework assignments, class reminders, and notes to keep track of. But if you make it fun for everyone, back to school will be a whole lot easier. Here’s an idea for a playful cloud bulletin board to hang in your child’s bedroom. This diy cork board is fast and easy, and something your kids will love.

You will need: tape, roll of cork contact paper, acrylic paint, paint brush, scissors, marker

Directions: Roll out your cork and freehand a cloud shape with a marker. Then, cut out the cloud with a pair of scissors. Next, add strips of tape at a diagonal, 1-2 inches apart, across your cloud shape and press down firmly. Using a brush, paint the exposed cork with a layer of acrylic and wait for it to dry. If the paint appears uneven in coverage, use a paper towel or rag to move the paint around in a dabbing motion. Note: For deeper color, you may need more than one coat of paint. Once the paint is completely dry, slowly remove the tape. Now it’s ready to hang on the wall, which is as easy as removing the paper from the back of the contact paper and sticking to the wall. Or you can use foam mounting strips.

Now your cloud board is ready for photos, schoolwork, and anything else the kiddos want to keep throughout the school year.
